Chamber Celebrates Expansion and New Location for Smith + Trade Mercantile

August 6, 2021. Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated the expansion and new location of Smith + Trade Mercantile with a ribbon cutting on August 6, 2021. The event took place at 229 Main Street South, Stillwater. Smith + Trade co-owners, Kelli and Paul Kaufer and staff member Chris Hansen, family, friends, fans, Chamber Ambassadors, and staff shared in the celebration. 

While the Kaufers have been Stillwater locals for years, Smith + Trade Mercantile has filled a creative space in Stillwater that has taken off fast and furiously. In their original location next door for only two years, the owners felt the need for a larger space to better showcase their artisans’ work as well as the opportunity to increase their artisans by 50%!  The mission of the store is to provide a retail brick and mortar experience, along with online marketing and eCommerce support, for Minnesota / St Croix Valley merchants who want to showcase the best that Minnesota has to offer as well as give back to the community and offer charity events.  Most recently they have partnered with Children’s Hospital Association to receive a portion of their profits. 

Smith + Trade Mercantile offers a variety of experiences for its customers, such as: hands-on workshops for kids and adults, special events, showcasing young, up & coming talents, and frequently has artisans in the store crafting their pieces. Kelli’s interior design studio is in the loft upstairs, allowing her a consultation space and to utilize many of the artisan pieces in her designs. Smith + Trade Mercantile gives a face to the products that the artisans spend so much time and skill creating. Stop and see what it’s all about!
