• Limitless Cycling Awarded $50,000 Grant to Expand Adaptive Outdoor Adventures

  • Stillwater, MN February 7, 2025 – River Valley Trails, Inc. is proud to announce that Limitless Cycling has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Hardenbergh Foundation, marking a significant step forward in its mission to provide adaptive outdoor opportunities to individuals with mobility limitations.

Founded on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to explore the outdoors, Limitless Cycling is dedicated to breaking barriers and making adventure an inclusive activity. This latest grant will support the expansion of its fleet of Action Trackchairs®, allowing more individuals to participate in recreational experiences that promote physical and emotional well-being year round.

“Outdoor mobility should be something everyone can enjoy—it should be accessible to all,” said Matthew Stepaniak, Board Member of River Valley Trails and Director of Limitless Cycling. “This generous support from the Hardenbergh Foundation enables us to continue growing and reaching more people who long to experience the thrill of movement and connection with nature.”

The Hardenbergh Foundation, established in 1950 by Ianthe Hardenbergh and her daughter Gabrielle, has a long-standing legacy of investing in organizations serving the residents of the East Twin Cities Metropolitan Area in all aspects of their lives. This latest contribution to Limitless Cycling reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting programs that enhance the quality of life for individuals facing mobility challenges.

The demand for Limitless Cycling’s services continues to grow. An estimated one in four U.S. adults lives with a disability, and many face barriers preventing them from enjoying the simple yet profound benefits of outdoor recreation. Seniors in assisted living facilities, veterans with service-related disabilities, and individuals with progressive diseases often find themselves isolated from nature, community events, and social engagement—critical elements of mental and emotional well-being.

Through adaptive cycling and Action Trackchair® experiences, Limitless Cycling breaks down these barriers. Riders report reduced stress, improved mood, and a renewed sense of belonging. Family members witness transformations—expressions of exhilaration replacing isolation, laughter echoing where silence once stood. The numbers tell one part of the story, but the impact is best seen in the faces of those we serve.

With this funding, Limitless Cycling will continue bringing its adaptive equipment directly to senior living communities, parks, and public spaces, ensuring that individuals of all abilities can experience the joy and freedom of outdoor mobility. Through strategic partnerships and a dedicated team of volunteers who are the heart of the organization, Limitless Cycling has transformed lives, providing not just rides, but moments of joy, independence, and empowerment. As the organization continues to expand, it remains committed to its mission, ensuring that no one is left on the sidelines when it comes to outdoor adventure.
