Theatre Associates of Stillwater: Suicide Punchline & Pop Goes the Cherry
-
These two new one-act shows have a great story line and a strong message.Suicide Punchline: Suicide Punchline takes you on a journey from life to death, with some jokes in between. In this solo performance, performer Jen Tuder (Sex Across the Curriculum) rehearses survival by interrogating the dead, kidding around at cocktail parties, and building dioramas of the afterlife. Suicide Punchline provides a lifeline for anyone who’s ever wondered if there’s life after a loved one’s death.Suicide is usually a dramatic climax, a solution to a mystery, or the punch line to a trite joke. For survivors of suicide, however, it's only the beginning. In Suicide Punchline surviving is the opposite of solving.Pop Goes the Cherry: Pop Goes the Cherry is a dramedy about a recovering prude who discovers that prudishness is not purity! Sunday school taught Amy to fear sex, and abuse made her afraid of intimacy. But in spirituality she faces and defeats her fears, finds true sexual freedom, and wins back her identity in faith.A show that proves you're both a sexual and spiritual being and that being a prude is not always prudent. Laugh - and cry - as Amy (joined by Miss Cherry, a Minnesota housewife and even members of Prudes Anonymous) finds humor in religion and sex; discovers that prudishness is not purity; heals from religion's repression and abuse's scars; and gains true sexual freedom.Theatre Associates of Stillwater: Sui...
