Spring Into Service

May Day, May Day, all hands on deck! On Saturday, May 1, 2010, Community Thread will host the 2nd Annual Spring Into Service Event - a volunteer event in Washington County and the St. Croix Valley. Over 200 volunteers will participate in service projects at a variety of nonprofit organizations, coming together to make a big difference in our community in just one day. Volunteer projects will include painting, landscaping, gardening, organizing donations, working with kids and more. There will also be office projects available for those unable to do physical labor.

This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited, so sign up early! Register today by emailing lisa@communitythreadmn.org or calling 651-439-7434. Sign up as an individual, family or group. You?ll receive a confirmation email after you register, and will receive your site assignments via email during the week prior to the event.

In these tough economic times, many nonprofits are seeing a decrease in funding and, in some cases, a reduction in the services they can provide. Volunteering is a great way to give back even when money is tight ? and it makes a huge difference in the lives of people in our community.

Event Details
WHAT: Community Thread Spring Into Service Event ? painting, landscaping, working with kids and more at community nonprofits.
WHEN: Saturday, May 1st, 2010
TIME: 8:30am ? 12:00pm
WHERE: Nonprofit sites across Washington County and the St. Croix Valley. You?ll be assigned a site after you register.
ATTIRE: Wear clothes you don?t mind getting dirty. Volunteer work is fun and meaningful, but painting, planting and cleaning can also get messy.
WHO: Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome; however, children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Kids 12-16 must have 1 adult leader for every 5 teens.
COST: This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

After volunteers complete their day of service, they are invited back to Community Thread for food, a silent auction, music and a chance to celebrate their accomplishments with other volunteers.
