About Us

Sundberg Kennedy Ly-Au Young Architects (SKL) specializes in the careful crafting of buildings and spaces for residential and community use. Bringing a Pacific Northwest sensibility to the Great Lakes Region, Jeremy Imhoff heads up SKL’s Stillwater Minnesota branch, focusing on residential projects and adaptive reuse and renovation of existing buildings of all types and ages.

SKL works closely with our residential clients to craft spaces that are beautiful, functional, and timeless. Scale and materials are balanced with light, sound and touch to create a harmonious whole. Engaging all the senses, the combination of the sensory and the intellect creates an architecture for humankind - and a home for its inhabitants.

SKL also specializes in adaptive re-use and renovation, re-imagining historic buildings and places in inspiring ways. We weave new and old together to highlight the layers of history contained within the original building, while updating HVAC, technological, seismic, and other systems to meet or exceed modern codes, ensuring a safe and more energy efficient facility. By juxtaposing well- worn character against new ideas and modern structures, we create places that engage the public with a deep spiritual connection that comes with the awareness of past generations.
