The Colorado peaches are in, and what better way to take advantage of seasonal pricing and peak flavor by canning them? Join Sara Morrison, owner of The Backyard Grocery who has a certificate in Acidified Canned Foods Training from the University of Wisconsin Extension, for a preservation lesson focused on the sweet and precious peach. Aspects of equipment and supplies, safe canning methods and storage of canned goods will be discussed in this hands-on class. Participants will leave with knowledge of properly canned peaches, no matter the recipe, and a half-pint jar of properly preserved peaches to take home. At “Our Community Kitchen”, 214 North Third Street(Ascension Episcopal Church), Stillwater, call 651-439-2609 for directions. The class fee is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
