Did you know that the St. Croix River is home to 41 species of mussels? Learn why the St. Croix is one of the best places in the world for mussels to live during this informational paddle, led by Wild Rivers Conservancy Naturalist Jeremiah Walters and University of Minnesota Research Biologist Mark Hove. Explore mussel habitat up close from Minnesota Interstate to Osceola Landing as you learn to identify a few of the many species that live along this stretch of river. Along the way, you’ll find out about the threats facing the river’s marvelous mussels and the work Wild Rivers Conservancy is doing in partnership to conserve rare species. This supported trip includes shuttle service, kayak, a paddle, and PFD. Bring your lunch and dress appropriately as you are likely to get wet on this trip.
