Business and property owners, city economic development staff, members of the construction industry, and preservationists are invited to a special seminar on Thursday, August 19th to learn about the new historic building rehabilitation tax credit that was passed as part of this year’s Jobs Bill.
Bonnie McDonald, Executive Director of thePreservation Alliance of Minnesota, will provide an overview of the program, information on qualifying, and how to apply to the program, The new statetax credit program mirrors the federal 20 percent rehabilitation tax credit, aprovision that has been in place since 1976. The federal tax credit has beenone of the Federal Government’s most successful and cost-effective communityrevitalization programs rewarding private investment in rehabilitating historicproperties nationwide.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Savories European Bistro at 108 North Main Street in Stillwater and is co-sponsored by the Stillwater Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Stillwater Independent Business Alliance, and State Senator Kathy Saltzman, a co-author of the legislation. McDonald will also provide information about the Main Street Minnesota Program.
