Saturday, May 9, 1 p.m. for Kindergarteners, 2 p.m. for First & Second grade, 3 p.m. for Third & Fourth grade and 4 p.m. for Fifth & Six grade.

As part of National Pet Week, Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo is offering dog bite prevention workshops for children in grades K- 6.   The clinic sent staffer Kirstin Reiss for special training in the program, which was developed by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association in cooperation with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.  It teaches children how to safely approach and pet a dog, what is “safe” and “unsafe” around a dog, basic dog body language, and finally how to “stand like a tree” or “lie like a log” if a strange dog runs up to you.
