We invite you to participate in a discussion about an exciting event floating down the river into Stillwater. Be Moved by the River, the biggest event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the St. Croix River Association, will stop in Stillwater on July 17 and 18, 2011. Interest is growing fast and furious!
Thursday April 21, at 5:30 p.m., at the Water Street Inn, we’d like to engage the Stillwater business community in a discussion about what the event is and about what Stillwater’s community celebration might look like. Jeff Anderson at 45 Degrees, is one of the Be Moved sponsors and is very interested in developing a memorable community event, as are others. What this community event might look like is up to you.
We are anticipated a group size of around 200 vessels per day. Information is being updated daily at www.scrapaddle.org, check it for logistical details.
Be Moved by the River is a 180-mile paddle of the entire St. Croix River. On the bigger water, especially on the lower St. Croix, paddlers will be joined by pontoons and other motorized watercraft. At lunch and overnight stops along the way, communities will celebrate and participate with music, performance, educational programs, and food events. Celebration plans are well underway. The journey begins in Solon Springs, WI, on Tuesday, July 5th and works its way downstream with events all along the way, ending in Prescott, WI, on July 22nd. There are two ways to celebrate: by land and by water.
