Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce welcomed local business,
The Hive House and Rachel DesJardins Photography, to the Chamber and the community with a ribbon cutting celebration on October 13, 2021. The event took place at 401 Main Street N., Stillwater, MN.  Founder Rachel DesJardins and Manager Danie Powell, Greater Stillwater Chamber ambassadors and staff were there to join in the celebration.

The Hive House started in St. Paul by story-telling photographer Rachel DesJardins and moved into downtown Stillwater in April of 2021. The Hive House is a photographer’s “Studio away from home” says DesJardins where backdrops are changed out seasonally, and rooms are rearranged frequently with a variety of furniture and props. DesJardins and Hive House Manager Danie Powell are photographers themselves, but created “The Hive” to lease space to other photographers who may work from home, or need a place for indoor photos. 

The energetic pair have created a one stop shop to make it easy for photographers to lease as well.  “The Hive” has five rooms to utilize. Rooms include a newborn room, getting ready room (boudoir), a bedroom, moody room, and the main room. Props such as; robes, bathtub, toys, oversized and handmade stuffed animals, colorful pillows, a hanging hammock and swing make it turnkey for both photographer and client. The light and structure of the location, the Isaac Staples Sawmill building, creates a cozy and inviting backdrop for a diversity of options. “Every space is beautiful and photogenic,” says Powell.
