DESCRIPTION:St Croix Catholic School (SCCS) invites the public to a tuition assistance fundraising gala on Saturday\, February 3\, 2018. The event will be held in St. Michael's Social Hall\, located at 611 Third Street South in Stillwater\, MN. The evening begins with a casino-themed social hour at 5:00 pm\, followed by a gourmet meal\, feature video and an engaging address by guest speaker\, Dr. John Wood. Tickets are $190 per individual and are available for purchase at: www.stcroixcatholic.org or by calling the school office\, 651.439.5581x310.  Proceeds support the school's tuition assistance program. \n\n\n\nFeatured speaker\, Dr. John Wood is the author of\, "Ordinary Lives\, Extraordinary Mission: 5 Steps to Winning the War Within."  The book has been one of Dynamic Catholic's bestselling selections\, with over 200\,000 copies distributed to date. Since the release of the book in December 2012\, Wood has spoken at more than 100 parishes and schools across the country to people of all ages\, inspiring thousands to embrace the message of the Universal Call to Holiness and help reawaken the sleeping giant called the Catholic Church. John has been on guests on numerous radio and TV shows\, including "Fire on the Earth" with Peter Herbeck\, "The Choices We Face\," with Ralph Martin\, "Kresta in the Afternoon" with Al Kresta\, and "Catholic Connection" with Teresa Tomeo.\n\n\n\nDr. Wood grew up in southwest Ohio where he first discovered the war within on the sporting field. Wood was an Ohio High School state champion in Track and Field in 1998\, and went on to the University of Findlay\, where he became the 2002 NCAA All-Ohio indoor track champion in the 800m run and a provisional qualifier to the NCAA Division II track and field national championships in the 800m run. \n\n\n\nDr. Wood has a deep passion and love for the Catholic faith and is very active in his local parish. Wood and his wife Kristin's dedication to the faith earned them the 2011 Centurion Award from the Diocese of Toledo\, given for "Outstanding service to their parish."  He teaches and speaks on a variety of topics including The Theology of the Body\, the Saints\, the Church\, Mary\, The Great Adventure bible study\, the Joy of the Gospel\, and his new education program for children and adults\, Saints in the Making University (SIMU).  \n\n\n\nDr. Wood and his wife Kristin currently reside in northwest Ohio with their four children. Wood is a mobile eye doctor\, and he travels to over 50 nursing homes and developmental disability facilities to provide eye care through his business\, Mobile Eyes\, LLC\, which he started in 2007.
