SUMMARY:Fire Muster
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for 'high water' on the levee in Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater. The park on the St. Croix River will be the setting for a traditional Fire Muster on Sunday\, June 27. The event is free and open to the public. The Minnesota Fire Engine Club is hosting the muster\, bringing out at least a dozen retired antique and classic fire engines. Some will be displayed\, including an early hand drawn\, gasoline powered pumper\, and others will draw water from the river and shoot it high over the river channel. The fire engines will leave Lily Lake Park at noon. They will travel Greeley Street to Myrtle Street and become a parade as they pass the Stillwater Fire Hall. The parade will then use Mulberry Street to cross Main Street downtown. Trucks will travel south on Water Street as the parade enters Lowell Park. Fire engines that will do the pumping will proceed into the south end of Lowell Park and be positioned on the levee. Pumping is planned to begin by 1:00 p.m. This family-oriented event ends at 4 p.m. A separate truck display will include a pre-1900 fire pump that was powered by a team of firefighters pumping levers by hand\, after they had pulled the pump to the fire by themselves. The display trucks will be located in the city parking lot on Water Street\, opposite RiverMarket Community Co-op\, this year's Fire Muster sponsor. The co-op is celebrating 10 years at its downtown location.
