The clinic sent staffer Kirstin Reiss for special training in the program\, which was developed by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association in cooperation with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. It teaches children how to safely approach and pet a dog\, what is "safe" and "unsafe" around a dog\, basic dog body language\, and finally how to "stand like a tree" or "lie like a log" if a strange dog runs up to you. The thirty-minute program is designed for children and their parents. Various times are available\, but space is limited. The class is free.
