DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, December 11 at the Lowell Inn for "The Writing Life" with guest speaker\, well known and loved Minnesota writer and actor\, Lorna Landvik. Landvik attended the University of Minnesota before moving to California\, where she performed stand-up and improvisational comedy at the Comedy Store and The Improv. She and her family moved back to Minneapolis and she published her first novel\, the critically acclaimed Patty Jane's House of Curl. Her newest novel\, The View from Mount Joy\, tells the story of a small-town boy who moves to Minneapolis in the early 1970's and tumbles into a life that includes an unchosen\, yet ultimately satisfying career\, unexpected fatherhood\, an evangelical super-star\, guitar-playing\, love and loss\, and grocery store bargain days. The View from Mount Joy will be available for sale by The Valley Bookseller in Stillwater\, which assisted in development of this program. The cost of the lunch and program is $17 and should be paid in advance. To make a reservation\, call the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation information and reservation line at 651-430-3830 and then submit a check\, made payable to the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation\, to SCVCF\, PO Box 39\, Hudson\, WI 54016. Reservations by credit card can be made online at www.scvcf.org/news_calendar.htm using Pay Pal. Please note the $1 processing fee per person for registrations made using Pay Pal.
